Department of Sports Studies

CPD

The Department provides Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for a range of people working in sport-related environments. Delivered both by our own staff and by other external experts, the CPD provision in Sports Studies is an example of knowledge transfer, with the courses being informed by our research and professional experience.

Our CPD programme includes both bespoke courses and training and the department’s regular programme.

BESPOKE COURSES

Our bespoke CPD provision is tailored to the specific needs of a particular employer and/or specific group of professionals or employees.

Examples include football managers, football referees, coaching staff and administrators in particular sports.

We would be happy to discuss the development of bespoke or tailored CPD courses with other governing bodies, clubs, employee representative etc.

OPEN CPD PROGRAMME

Developed in consultation with employers, SkillsActive, sportscotland and Volunteer Development Scotland, our open programme is a series of workshops aimed at people working in sport in a paid or voluntary capacity. The workshops will be delivered by tutors who have direct knowledge and experience of many facets of sport management and sports coaching.
