There is a range of opportunities for postgraduate study and research within the Department of Sports Studies.
The Department offers specialised MSc programmes in Sports Coaching and Sports Management. For more information on the two programmes please click on the right hand navigation link.
The Department also offers an MSc in Sports Nutrition. This is a dissertation only MSc which is available to students who have completed the IOC Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Nutrition. Further information on this programme including details on how to apply can be found by clicking on the right hand navigation link.
For applicants who already have experience of studying sport at Undergraduate level, there are opportunities to follow a more focused, research route to an MPhil or PhD. In doing so, a single research project will be conducted. This can be in any area of sports studies, as long as staff have the appropriate expertise to supervise the student's research.
Discipline-specific training takes place within the Department, usually on a one-to-one basis, with more generic transferable skills being developed as part of the Stirling Graduate Research School training programme. The SGRS also hosts an annual postgraduate day at which students can give presentations and poster sessions. Within semester, fortnightly peer-managed research seminars are held and the Department also runs a research seminar series to which postgraduates are invited.
