Classes are available to those over the age of 50. The classes run throughout the year and include activities
such as exercise to music, beginners dance, indoor games, stretch and tone, pilates, swimming, aquacise, golf and tennis. The classes cater for a wide range of abilities and offer a great opportunity to take up a new sport, exercise and meet lots of new people. All equipment is provided for each of the activities. Further details of dates and times can be found in the Physical Activity Classes for the Young at Heart brochure.
Throughout the year several walks are organised both around the University campus and further afield. The yearly 'walk round the loch' is well supported and the annual 'healthy lunch' provides support for local charities.
By registering to take part in any of the 50+ courses you automatically become a member of the 'SUPERS' club (Stirling University Physical Education and Recreation for Seniors). The SUPERS committee organises a varied social programme, which includes events such as theatre outings, cultural visits, day trips and parties. The social events are extremely popular and are advertised on the 50+ notice board, which is situated outside the sports hall.
Healthy Heart Fitness Programme
Class members also have the opportunity to monitor their own health and fitness levels by taking part in the ‘Healthy Heart Fitness Programme’. This is an eight week programme which provides members with the opportunity to monitor their own individual health related fitness progress.
Please check the 50+ notice board and the Physical Activity Classes for the Young at Heart brochure for more details.
