A number of structured fitness classes provide an ideal opportunity to have a regular time slot each week to exercise. The classes include: Gym Inductions; Individual Consultations; Free Weights Clinics; GP Referrals and 50+ Gym Fit. The classes cater for all levels and types of activity and are coded to highlight which fitness component is stressed. These are then graded in terms of level of intensity. Classes are available to staff, students and members of the local community. 50 fitness classes are available each week during semesters 1 and 2 (September - November, February - April). A drop-in programme runs out with these months providing a year round exercise programme.

There are also lots of opportunities to become more active through more informal sessions. Walking routes around the University campus have been identified and offer a lunchtime alternative to structured fitness classes. The popular 'Jog Scotland’ classes offers the opportunity for all levels of participant to walk / jog in a group setting. Similarly a series of swimming circuits has been developed to lend structure to recreational swimming sessions. These resources are provided free of charge to sport centre members and information can be picked up from the sports centre reception.
