A range of golf classes is offered to children of all ages and ability levels. The classes are taught by experienced
staff and golf professionals and offer clear pathways to progress and develop golf skills. The programme is divided up into 7 different levels and covers five core elements of the game: putting, short game, long game, playing and the golfer’s code. The Junior Golf Passport provides the structure for the programme with a series of targets for each element that get progressively more challenging as the children progress through the classes.
Tri-golf is a ‘mini’ version of golf designed specifically for young children and uses adapted equipment. It introduces basic coordination and golf skills to children aged between 5-7 years. First club golf is a progression from tri-golf, again using adapted equipment, for children aged 7 years and over. The next 5 levels are taught with full equipment on the practise areas and driving range. They are led by a golf professional and focus more on stroke development. Opportunities are provided for class participants to use the nine hole Airthrey Golf course situated on the University campus.
