| John was appointed as a Research Fellow in September 2004. A graduate of Heriot-Watt University (BA Hons Recreation) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc Social and Educational Research), he has 15 years experience as a researcher and research manager at the Centre for Leisure Research and at sportscotland. |

| John is the Module Co-ordinator for SPS9B7 Sports Research – Research Methods and SPSP03 Sports Research. He also contributes to SPS917 Operational Management in Sport, SPS916 Sports Policy, Planning and Management, SPS9F6 The Psychology of Exercise, Physical Activity and Health, and SPSP21 Monitoring and Evaluation. |
| Research |
| John has an interest in a broad range of sports topics including sports policy, strategic plan development, youth sport and sports participation. John is interested in monitoring and evaluation of sports initiatives and has recently completed a 3 year evaluation of the ‘Girls on the Move’ Programme funded by The Robertson Trust and the Scottish Executive. He is currently working on an evaluation of the SFA's Football Academy. |
