About
Joyce Kay was appointed research fellow in April 2006 following three years of an honorary fellowship. She has a Ph.D in economic and social history from the University of Edinburgh and worked for many years at The Open University, as both tutor and administrator, before her present appointment.
Teaching
Joyce has taught on SPS914 The Historical Development of Sport and contributed to SPSP08 The Professional in Sport
Research
Joyce has recently completed her study on the links between sport and the women’s suffrage movement in Britain. She is continuing to work on aspects of women in sports leadership; the development of equestrian sport with particular reference to children and young people; and the relationship between sport and charity.
