| Joyce Kay was appointed research fellow in April 2006 following three years of an honorary fellowship. She has a Ph.D in economic and social history from the University of Edinburgh and worked for many years at The Open University, as both tutor and administrator, before her present appointment. |

| Research |
| Joyce has recently completed her study on the links between sport and the women’s suffrage movement in Britain. She is continuing to work on aspects of women in sports leadership; the development of equestrian sport with particular reference to children and young people; and the relationship between sport and charity. |
